Make no mistakes about it, it's time to set the record straight. Inner City Records Co., founded by Dj Equalizer back in 1989, is Baltimore's first Real Full-Time Record Co. Creating the music scene In Baltimore, and creating the genre of music known as Baltimore Club Music nearly 20 years ago! The only other label to come out of this city that has released more than a one-off limited pressing didn't drop their first release until 1994. Do the math. Inner City Records had already dropped 17 albums!
Many a local Baltimore Dj have called themselves The Creator Of Club Music, or The Godfather Of Club Music, and/ or have tried to take credit for Inner City's material by falsly tying their name to the releases, or knowingly allowing people to accidentally mis-attribute their name as a part of the music.
Knowing the credit was accidentally given, but refusing to keep it real and step up to admit the mistake. And even to this day, still perpetrating the lie, and allow themselves to be referred to as such in countless interviews and chat forums. They sadly fail to give credit where it's due and set the record straight.
However, Without Dj Equalizer, there may never have been a genre of music known as Baltimore Club, and such a wealth of source material for all the other artists and labels who have followed in the footsteps of Dj Equalizer's vision.
